in the Same Territory: Rights and Obligations of the Syro-Malabar Church and Diocesan Bishops Concerning the Syro-Malabar Faithful.

This book considers the pastoral care of the Syro-Malabar faithful who lived outside Syro-Malabar jurisdictions. They depended on the latin parishes in their domicile for their pastoral needs. Separation from their own Church sui iuris adversely affected the exercise of their rights and obligations in the Church. Concerned about the nature of the fact, the Syro-Malabar Church sought the necessary jurisdiction in the domicile of the faithful. This paved way for inter-ecclesial conflicts. Thus, this study: (i) Examines the arguments of the Syro-Malabar Church to establish necessary means for the pastoral care of its faithful who reside outside its jurisdictions;
(ii) Evaluates the arguments presented by the Latin Church in India concerning the sufficiency of the implementation of CIC c. 383 §2 towards the care of the faithful of another Church sui iuris present in a diocesan territory; and (iii) Discusses the major interventions of the Apostolic See in this regard.
